People

  • Shuo Wang, Ph.D.

Shuo got his Ph.D. in computation and neural systems from the California Institute of Technology in 2014, and did his postdoctoral research at the California Institute of Technology and Princeton University before joining the faculty at WVU in 2017. His research interests revolve around visual saliency, attention and face processing, and he also has a strong interest in autism research. He employs an array of neuroscience methods, including psychophysics, eye tracking, intracranial electrophysiology, fMRI, EEG and computational modeling.

  • Paula Webster, Ph.D.

Paula studies social behavior in people with autism. She conducts interview with people with autism and uses neuroimaging to understand social perception in autism. Paula received her Ph.D. in biomedical sciences from WVU.

  • Runnan Cao

Runnan studies single-unit correlates of face perception in humans. She also uses functional neuroimaging to study face perception. Runnan received her Ph.D. from the Institute of Biophysics, Chinese Academy of Sciences.

  • Michael Pereira

Michael visits from EPFL. He works on intra-op recording from DBS patients. He is interested in studying conscious perception of tactile sensation.

  • Jacob Suffridge

Jacob is a Ph.D. student in biomedical engineering. He studies visual attention in healthy and neurological individuals. Jacob received his B.S. in biomedical engineering from WVU.

  • Rakibul Hasan

Rakibul is a Ph.D. student in biomedical engineering. He studies the neural basis of visual attention and is also interested in machine learning. Rakibul received his B.S. from University of Minnesota.

  • Na Zhang

Na is a Ph.D. student in computer science. She analyzes human behavior from videos using deep neural network. Na received her B.S. from Beihang University.

  • Daniel Liss

Dan is a Ph.D. student in biomedical engineering. He studies cognitive and motor functions in stroke patients. Dan received his B.S. from the University of Pittsburgh.

  • Sylwia Brooks

Sylwia is an M.D. student at WVU. She studies stroke patients and is currently working on stroke lesion mapping.

  • Kingsly Jonathan

Kingsly is a lab assistant under the Research Apprenticeship Program. He helps in the areas of participant recruitment and testing. He is interested in psychology and cognitive neuroscience in general.
